Have you ever just started crying out of nowhere, for no apparent reason, or gotten sudden bouts of depression or laughter, yes?
Okay, don’t worry! It’s nothing serious and no, you are not weak, it’s just your hormones all-out-of-whack!
During ovulation, an egg is released from the ovary into the fallopian tube where it stays for approximately 12-24 hours: here if it comes into contact with a sperm, it gets fertilized otherwise it will start to disintegrate in the form of periods.
Menstrual cycles differ from woman to woman, therefore, predicting the exact time of ovulation may be difficult and will depend on a specific person. However, during this time a lot of hormonal imbalances take place which causes women to experience symptoms of ovulation which may include:
- Mood swings.
- Irritability
- Increased basal body temperature.
- Changes in the cervical mucus.
- Period cramps and abdominal pains.
Causes
If you are having rapidly changing and unpredictable mood swings during ovulation, this process could be behind that feeling you have.
It’s very common for women to experience sudden emotional (depression, humor, irritability, anxiety, sadness, rage, anxiety or nervousness) changes. Okay, there is no scientifically proven, direct evidence of these sudden emotional changes due to ovulation, but several studies connect hormonal surges to moodiness.
The fluctuation of hormones (estrogen and progesterone) are in most cases responsible for the sudden mood swings during ovulation. In addition to this problem, women also experience other symptoms such as:
- headaches.
- dizziness.
- bloating.
- backaches.
- Heart palpitations.
- Sweating.
- Hot flashes.
Natural treatment for ovulation mood swings
While ovulation lasts for about 1-3 days, targeted specific treatment is not necessary. However, you can incorporate a few lifestyle changes to make the time during ovulation bearable for you and those around you.
- Eat foods rich in omega 3 fatty acids such as halibut, salmon, and walnuts. Additionally, include fruits and green leafy vegetables since they are rich sources of minerals and vitamins which help to alleviate this problem.
- Skip or reduce the intake of caffeinated drinks, caffeine is a stimulant by nature, it amplifies hormonal fluctuations.
- Incorporate some light exercises in your daily routine to eliminate depression and control ovulation mood swings.
- Ensure you drink a maximum of 8 glasses of water per day to ensure your body is well hydrated.
- Avoid the intake of alcoholic drinks at least during the 12th-16th day during your menstrual cycle, if you are prone to ovulation changes in moods.
